Caribou Coffee Hires Cellfire to Offer Mobile Coupons

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Caribou Coffee Co. has joined the list of companies using Cellfire Inc. to accept mobile coupons in its 443 U.S. retail locations.

Caribou, the second largest company-owned gourmet coffeehouse operator, will offer its customers $1 off any large drink or a free drink with purchase of a pound of coffee when using the Cellfire service.

“An increasing number of consumers are using their mobile phone for more than talking and texting and we are looking to tap into that trend,” said Kathy Hollenhorst, senior vice president of marketing for Caribou. “We’re leveraging the Cellfire mobile coupon service to drive store traffic, increase trial of our great coffee and convert new guests into loyal customers.”

To participate, customers must subscribe to the Cellfire service online from their mobile Web browser or computer. They can then access the service anytime to use the mobile coupons. When making a purchase at Caribou, they can show the coupon code on their cell phone to the person at the register to receive the discount.

Several days ago, GameStop announced that it would use Cellfire to offer mobile coupons at more than 4,200 GameStop retail locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.

Other Cellfire clients include Kroger, Arby’s, Valvoline, Sears Portrait Studios, 1-800-Flowers and Domino’s Pizza, among others.
