Pepsi Sweeps Sends Winner to Apprentice Finale

Pepsi-Cola North America has teamed up with one of NBC’s most watched television shows, The Apprentice, to award one lucky winner and a guest a chance to win tickets to the season finale through an online sweepstakes.

Pepsi-Cola randomly chose one grand-prize winner and a guest to receive an all-expense paid trip to New York City and tickets to The Apprentice finale, which will air on Dec. 16. The winner will spend two nights in a hotel and receive $250 in spending money, Nicole Bradley, a spokesperson for Pepsi-Cola North America, said.

To be eligible, consumers had to enter the sweepstakes at Pepsiedge.com and register by Dec. 1.

Pepsi-Cola also doled out 100 limited edition replicas of the Pepsi Edge bottle designed by Apex, the winning team on The Apprentice, to randomly selected second-place winners who met the sweepstakes deadline, Bradley said. For third-place winners, the company distributed coupons for a free, 2-liter bottle of Pepsi Edge to 50,000 consumers, she said.

Pepsi Edge is a new soft drink by Pepsi-Cola made with 50% less sugar, calories and carbohydrates. The Apprentice featured Pepsi Edge on its Thanksgiving night episode, in which candidates designed a new bottle and marketing campaign for the new product.

Last month, Pepsi Edge featured two fired Apprentice candidates, Andy and Raj, in a TV commercial to promote the online sweepstakes. Pepsi is one of many major marketers to advertise their product through the TV show.

The Apprentice, produced by Mark Burnett Productions with Trump Productions LLC, is one of the latest smash reality TV shows. The show gives 18 candidates from different professional backgrounds a chance to compete for a dream job with The Trump Organization and earn a six-figure salary.
