It’s Mobile, Baby!

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Just in time to entertain the hordes of direct marketers set to descend on Sin City for DMA08, Vegas.com is rolling out what it calls Las Vegas’ first mobile show-ticketing service.

Mobile Concierge is for customers already in town, offering current/next-day show and tour listings, as well as regularly updated hotel information. It’s available by texting 777 to shortcode Vegas (83427) or by visiting mobile.vegas.com on handheld devices. Customers can browse show times, ticket prices, reviews, and will soon be able to view video clips of specific shows and then be connected to a live telerep to book their choice.

“We didn’t want customers to have to peck away at tiny keyboards to enter credit card information while they’re in motion,” says Vegas.com president Howard Lefkowitz.

Confirmations are e-mailed to customers’ mobile devices or standard addresses. Tickets can then be picked up at the box office or sent directly to a phone or PDA. At supported Vegas.com-operated box offices, customers will utilize a 2-D barcode ticket displayed on their mobile device to enter the theater. At press time, the “Box Office in Your Pocket” application was operating at the Wynn Las Vegas and was set to debut at other locations shortly.
