Hallmark Channel Sponsors Holiday Sweeps

Back by popular demand, the Hallmark Channel is reviving its annual holiday sweepstakes packed with more than 1,000 prizes, including a walk-on role in a Hallmark Channel movie.

The Hallmark Channel Hollywood Holiday Sweepstakes offers Hallmark store shoppers and TV viewers a chance to win $25,000 and a five-day, four-night trip for two to Los Angeles, where four top winners can appear as extras in an upcoming Hallmark movie production.

Consumers who use their Hallmark Gold Crown card through Dec. 24 are automatically entered in the drawing. TV viewers simply watch for an 800 number aired once a week during a prescheduled holiday movie for a chance to win.

The Hallmark Channel will also award 10 first prizes of $10,000 and 1,000 Hallmark holiday ornament collections for second prize.

The promotion highlights the Hallmark Channel’s holiday season programming and makes a direct connection to Hallmark shoppers. The promotion is designed to increase company recognition and viewership of the Hallmark Channel’s holiday programming schedule, said Andy Karofsky, the Hallmark Channel’s VP-marketing.

A random drawing for all eligible entries will take place on Jan. 31, 2005. In-store, online, print, direct mail and TV advertisement materials support. Westport, CT-based Concept One is handling the sweepstakes.

Hallmark ran a similar promotion last year in which consumers entered a drawing every time they used their Hallmark Gold Crown card to win a walk-on role on a Hallmark Channel production, Karofsky said.

The Hallmark Channel is a 24-hour basic cable channel that provides entertainment programming to 65 million subscribers nationwide. Nearly 4,500 cable systems and communities and home satellite services across the country distribute the service.
