FOX Launches Online 24 TV Series Game

FOX Broadcasting Co. has launched a new online game based on its hit television series 24, developed by WildTangent, the leading online game publisher.

Joining FOX and WildTangent in the venture is LG Mobile Phones, which serves as the game’s sponsor.

The online 3-D game, 24: Countdown, lets players assume the role of Jack Bauer, the television series’ man character, sending them on a high-speed chase to foil the plot of a rogue terrorist cell. During the simulated 24-hour period, players must disable enemy vehicles in three intense chase sequences. Players who successfully complete each sequence bring Jack closer to saving Las Vegas from a nuclear disaster.

The free game is available at Fox.com/24.

As part of the promotion, players can receive communications from CTU headquarters through the LG VX8000 multimedia enabled cell phone. LG Mobile phones received integrated ad placement within the online game.

“This is a great opportunity to showcase the VX8000 handset’s leading multimedia capabilities, including streamlining audio and video, high-speed Internet access and an integrated megapixel digital camera,” said Jon Maron, director, marketing communications for LG Mobile Phones, in a statement.

WildTangent developed the game. In a statement, Alex St. John, CEO and co-founder of WildTangent, called the game a “testament” to the company’s online game platform with its intense graphics and dramatic explosions.

“We’re pleased to enable such premium brands as FOX and LG mobile Phones to reach their target consumers through games in a meaningful way,” St. John said.

The fourth season of 24 premieres Jan. 9 at 8 p.m. on FOX with a special two-hour episode, which will continue at 8 p.m. Jan. 10. The show will air regularly on Monday nights.

In 2002, the series won Emmy Awards for writing and editing and has been nominated for 20 Emmys in its first two seasons. Real Time Producers and Imagine Television produce 24 in association with 20th Century Fox Television.
