Ameriquest Leverages MLB Sponsorship With All-Star Sweepstakes

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Ameriquest Mortgage Co. is celebrating its second season as title sponsor of the Major League Baseball All-Star Game fan ballots by offering one fan a trip to this year’s contest plus a trip to any Texas Rangers home game.

The sweepstakes will be the third Ameriquest has run as a partner with MLB since becoming its official mortgage company last April. It is the second one involving a trip to the All-Star game, and the first with a grand prize that includes multiple trips.

The Key to Your Dreams sweepstakes coincides with the Ameriquest 2005 MLB All-Star balloting, and includes a trip for the grand-prize winner and a guest to the 2005 All-Star Game in Detroit with 19-time All-Star Cal Ripken Jr. and five-time All-Star and former Detroit Tiger Jack Morris. The winner will also receive tickets to the All-Star Workout Day, which includes the Home Run Derby.

In addition, the winner will get the “keys” to Ameriquest Field in Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers, for a game of his or her choice. The winner will receive a trip to the stadium and a package including a “behind the scenes” look at a day at the ballpark. The winner will then get to sit in luxury and watch the game from the owner’s box.

Ameriquest Assistant Marketing Manager Christine Bunch said the winner will also get to take batting practice with the Rangers and will throw out a ceremonial first pitch before the game.

“We got a lot of press and online entries from our World Series sweepstakes last year, so we decided to bring those elements to the All-Star Game sweepstakes,” said Bunch, adding that the winner of last year’s World Series sweepstakes got to sit in a luxury box with one of three Hall-of-Famers—Tommy Lasorda, Ozzie Smith or George Brett. “We wanted this sweepstakes to be even more exciting than the World Series one, which is why we added the trip to Ameriquest Field.”

Consumers can enter the sweepstakes by filling out an All-Star Game ballot at any MLB stadium, online at either MLB.com or Ameriquest.com, or by mail. The sweepstakes ends June 27.

The sweepstakes is handled in-house by both MLB and Ameriquest. It is being promoted on both Web sites, at the ballparks, and through a public relations campaign handled by Alan Taylor Communications, New York.

“Our company and the sweepstakes are about fulfilling dreams, and we think using public relations to promote this sweepstakes is the best way for us to leverage the program,” Bunch said.
