Spicer’s Tweets Give Dippin’ Dots Major Marketing Opportunity
Who could possibly have a beef with Dippin’ Dots? What’s not to like about those tiny, yummy beads of ice cream, yogurt, sherbet and flavored ice?
The Twitterverse has unearthed at least one. Users, digging around for who knows what, came up with old tweets that President Trump’s spokesman Sean Spicer had posted over several years. One claims, “Dippin dots is NOT the ice cream of the future,” dissing the brand’s tagline “Ice Cream of the Future.” Over a year later, this tweet, typos and all: “I think I have said this before but Dippin Dots are notthe ice cream of the future.” Yes, you did.
As the old tweets began to circulate, Dippin’ Dots marketing team took action, as marketers do, to capitalize on a current event. It crafted an open letter to Spicer that it shared on social with its customers and others.
