Taco Bell Tells Consumers to Get Saucy Via Contest

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Taco Bell is asking consumers to part with some words of wisdom as part of the QSR’s second annual Share Your Sauce Wisdom contest for a chance to win a year’s supply of free food.

The QSR is searching for unique Taco Bell sayings to include on its mild, hot and fire sauce packets. In its first go-around in 2004, the company received 10,000 entries and published 12 different consumer sayings on nearly 5 billion sauce packets.

Consumers can enter the contest by registering their “sauce wisdom”—humorous sayings that poke fun at reality through the Taco Bell brand—at Tacobell.com Messages must be no longer than 70 characters and provide insight on the little things in life.

“It’s a clever way to express our brand personality,” said Laurie Schalow, public relations director for Taco Bell. “It lets consumers express their [thoughts] about our brand.”

Entries will be accepted through June 17 and will be judged according to humor, originality, length and suitability. Taco Bell will select up to one dozen consumer sayings as part of the contest. Winners will receive a one-year supply of Taco Bell food, which will be awarded in $5 gift checks for 52 weeks.

Some of last year’s winning entries include “You had me at taco,” “I’m in good hands now” and “Pick me! Pick me!”
