Parents Make Over in eBay Contest

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

EBay is running an online contest that gives new parents a makeover, using only goods bought on eBay.

The “eBay and Real Savvy Moms Baby Dream Room Contest” will give $2,500 to each of six finalists to redecorate a room, then let consumers vote on the best room makeover. The top vote-getter wins a family trip to Orlando, FL.

eBay members entered the contest at eBay.com/redesigncontest, describing (in 250 words) how they’d create their Dream Nursery, Dream Toddler Room or Dream Playroom with items bought on eBay, and submitted a photo of the room as it is now.

EBay chose six finalists (two for each room type), who are notified today and will get $2,500 deposited in their Paypal accounts on Feb. 3 to start shopping. Finalists have until March 31 to finish their redecorating and submit photos for consumer judging.

EBay visitors can vote throughout April for their fave makeover, judging the before and after photos, entry essays, and list of items bought for each room. The top vote-getter wins a five-day trip for four to Orlando.

New agency Strobe Promotions, Hicksville, NY, handles the campaign for San Jose-based eBay and its partner, Realsavvymoms.com, which runs a Web site, mall tour and PBS series targeting moms.
