MaggieMoo’s Offers Tax Filers a Free Scoop

Customers who find that Tax Day leaves a bitter taste will be able to lick that problem this April 15 if they’re near a participating store in the MaggieMoo’s Ice Cream & Treatery chain.

That’s the day the retailer plans to implement its own “e-cone-omic” stimulus package by handing out a free single scoop of its super-premium ice cream products.

“Tax Day is often a stressful time, and MaggieMoo’s stimulus package is meant to reward customers and to encourage those who have never tried our ice cream to have a taste,” said Jenn Johnston, senior vice president of brand marketing for MaggieMoo franchisor NexCen Franchise Management, in a release. “Ice cream has a unique way of making people happy, and we wanted to give our customers something to smile about on Tax Day.”

In 2008 the brand picked up four product awards from the National Ice Cream Retailers Association. Earlier this month MaggieMoo’s introduced an extension to its line of signature ice cream cupcakes, including designs to resemble hearts, sunflowers, footballs and basketballs.

Founded in 1989 in Kansas City, MaggieMoo’s now has nearly 200 outlets in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Thailand. NexCen Brands owns a portfolio of franchise brands that includes The Athlete’s Foot, Shoebox New York and Great American Cookie, managing those properties through the NexCen Franchise Management subsidiary.
