KFC Offers Boaters Drive Thru Sampling

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Over the weekend, KFC made an attempt to put a new spin on the drive thru restaurant. It opened shop with a limited menu on a boat floating around Lake Michigan where boaters and jet skiers could pull up to the window on the water and get a free sample of the company’s newest Value Menu items.

The weather, however did not cooperate. When windy conditions cut short the amount of time on the water, samples were handed out from the boat on docks and piers.

The three-day promotion coincided with the 2009 AVP Crocs Cup Championship Kentucky Grilled Chicken Chicago Open, where many young, active people gather. When in the water, the vessel was located just off the shore of Oak Street Beach, the site of the professional volleyball tournament.

The items sampled included, Grilled Chicken Value Box, Mini Melts and Brownie Bites.

The sampling took place Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
