Clifford Celebrates Valentine’s With TV Special, Sweeps

That loveable canine, Clifford the Big Red Dog, has returned to celebrate Valentine’s Day touting a new PBS Kids special and a sweepstakes offering participants the chance to win one of 50 Clifford-themed packages.

Scholastic Entertainment is kicking off a month-long promotion and marketing campaign to support Clifford’s Heart-y Party Valentine’s Day Special on PBS Kids. The hour-long program will feature an all-new Clifford’s Puppy Days Valentine’s story and three classic love-theme stories from the Clifford the Big Red Dog and Clifford’s Puppy Days series.

As part of the promotion, fans can enter Clifford’s Heart-y Party Contest, which invites kids seven and under to paint or draw a Valentine for the crimson canine. Participants can enter online at PBSkids.org or at Scholastic.com/clifford to fill out an entry form.

To further celebrate the holiday, participants can also send a secret Clifford Valentine to a friend or loved one online at Scholastic.com/clifford.

Consumers can win one of 50 Clifford-themed prize packages worth $47, which includes the new Everybody Loves Clifford DVD, Clifford Phonics, Clifford Puppy Days book, Clifford Loves Me and a Clifford the Small Red Puppy beanbag.

The sweepstakes runs through Feb. 21. Judging will be based on creativity, originality and skill and will take place on March 14.

That’s not all. In addition to the sweepstakes, Clifford is scheduled to make a special appearance to open the NASDAQ Stock Market by ringing the bell in New York City Feb. 14. (Scholastic trades under the NASDAQ ticker symbol SCHL.)
