JCPenney Supporting Sweeps with Wristband Sales

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

JCPenney will sell NFL team wristbands in its stores to support the second annual Take a Player to School in-store sweepstakes, which the retailer is running in conjunction with the league.

Net profits and the NFL’s royalties from the $2.99 rubber wristbands will be donated to the JCPenney Afterschool Fund, the Plano, TX-based retailer’s non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and raising awareness of afterschool programs.

Sweepstakes entry forms will be included in the wristband packaging. Kids aged six to13 can get a sweepstakes form from an in-store tear-pad. Registration, which can only be done in-store, ends Sept. 22.

On Oct. 3, 34 grand-prize winners (32 from NFL markets and two from non-NFL markets) will be drawn and get to take an NFL player designated by the league and JCPenney to school. The winners will also receive an NFL autographed football and NFL merchandise, including a replica jersey, cap sweatshirt and T-shirt.

Thirty-four first- and second-prize winners will receive NFL merchandise.
