TV That Pops

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Fun fact: Did you know that 80% of popcorn consumed at home is eaten while watching television?

So what better pair to get together than Orville Redenbacher and TV Guide. The two launched an in-store promo last month to drive popcorn sales and subscriptions via an on-pack offer touted on 2 million boxes of Orville popcorn.

The sweeps promotes TV’s fall program lineup by dangling the chance to win a trip to Los Angeles to attend next year’s TV Guide after party celebrating the 2007 prime-time Emmy Awards.

Consumers send in proofs-of -purchase clipped from boxes of Redenbacher’s Movie Theater Butter, Butter and SmartPop! Butter flavors to receive eight complimentary issues of TV Guide. P-O-P displays feature a $1 off coupon good for both Orville popcorn and TV Guide at checkout. The offer, which ends Oct. 1, is also available at TVGuide.com/Orville, where consumers can enter on-pack codes for the chance to win.

Some 40 million FSIs in newspapers this month, adds in TV Guide and banners on the TV Guide Web site support.
