Sprite Goes Nationwide to Find Best Slam Dunker

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Sprite has expanded its Slam Dunk competition with a multi-city tour in a search to find America’s best amateur dunker.

Under the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown, people will participate in competitions in eight cities. And online players can upload videos of their own dunks and then vote on their favorites in the competition.

To add some hype for the promotion, National Basketball Association All-Star, Lebron James, will help select the winning dunk from among the online video submissions.

Four finalists will be selected to compete in a playoff at NBA All-Star 2010 in Dallas, TX. The winner will receive a grand prize of $10,000 and will attend the Sprite Slam Dunk contest during NBA All-Star Saturday Night on Feb. 13, 2010.

“The Sprite Slam Dunk contest is one of the most exciting and captivating events for our fans during the week of NBA All-Star,” said Mark Tatum, executive vice president of marketing partnerships for NBA. “By inviting fans to participate as dunkers, spectators, and ultimately, as the judges who will crown the champion of the Sprite Slam Dunk Showdown, we are able to bring the excitement of the Sprite Slam Dunk to fans on a local and very personal level.”
