McDonald’s Tests Mobile Coupons

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

McDonald’s is testing a new promotional tool to bring people into its restaurants: mobile coupons.

Customers in 113 locations in Utah, Wyoming and Nevada can receive a free iced coffee by using Cellfire mobile coupons at participating restaurants through April 27. People can visit http://www.cellfire.com or text “mcd” to 22888 to receive the Cellfire application. The coupon will automatically be loaded to users’ mobile phones.

After receiving a redemption code, customers show their device to McDonald’s cashiers to receive the free drink. Participants can also receive future offers from McDonald’s and other Cellfire clients, such as Supercuts and Extreme Pita.

Cellfire, a mobile coupon and discount offer service provider, works with more than 10,000 merchant locations to offer mobile coupons and discount offers

Other companies testing mobile coupons include Kimberly-Clark, General Mills and Procter & Gamble.
