Citi Offers ‘ThankYou’ Program to Shoppers

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

In the spirit of giving, Citi has expanded its loyalty rewards program giving card members an additional opportunity to earn ThankYou points.

Through Citi’s new ThankYou Merchants program, consumers can earn bonus points—an average of five points per dollar spent—with every online, phone or in-store purchase made at member retailers. More than 200 leading e-tailers, retailers and cataloguers are members of the ThankYou Merchants program.

The added benefit is part of Citi’s ThankYou Network designed to show customer appreciation. The network links a variety of participating merchants, including retail stores, restaurants, travel providers, entertainment providers and service establishments. Citi is a member of Citigroup.

Consumers who have the Citi Diamond Preferred Rewards MasterCard, the PremierPass card, the Platinum Select MasterCard with ThankYou Network, the Citi.you MasterCard and the AT&T Universal MasterCard with the ThankYou Network are eligible to earn additional ThankYou points.

The rewards program lets customers earn and redeem points faster for something meaningful, said Bill Borden, senior VP of Citi Cards.

“We’re working hard to bring the best value to our customers,” Borden said. “By joining the ThankYou program, we’ve created a network where you can accelerate your earnings.”

The program allows cardholders to redeem things that are “more important and relevant” to their lives, Borden said.

Consumers can redeem their ThankYou points on a number of items with as little as 1,000 points. For example, card members can receive a Wilson Collegiate basketball with 2,500 points, a Game Boy Advanced system with 10,500 points, a hot-air balloon ride for 25,000 points or a two-night trip to New Orleans with 150,000 points.

“It’s a win for our merchant partners and I hope it is a win for our customers,” he added.

Card members must register for the free benefit at Thankyouredemptions.com. Every time consumers shop within the ThankYou Merchants group, they can earn bonus ThankYou points on registered cards. Shoppers can earn between one and 10 ThankYou points depending on the participating retailer.

The promotion, which launched this month, is ongoing.
