CBS Drives Tune-In With 43 MM Valpak Mailings, Sweeps

CBS Networks is boosting its Monday primetime comedy line-up with A 43 million-piece mailing, Internet-streaming video and a sweepstakes.

The outer envelope of the Valpak mailing directs viewers to tune-in Monday nights on CBS featuring images from The King of Queens. CBS is promoting its new comedy night with the return of the show and Two and A Half Men, and new shows How I Met Your Mother and Out Of Practice.

Consumers also have a chance to enter the Live Like A King sweepstakes by logging on to Valpak.com. One grand-prize winner gets first-class airfare for two to Hollywood with hotel accommodations and $500 spending money to attend a taping of The King of Queens. Consumers who enter the sweepstakes online can preview CBS’s new primetime line-up.

“Valpak is the perfect vehicle to reach the target viewers of our Monday comedy block,” said George Schweitzer, president, CBS Marketing Group, in a statement.

Valpak will further support the promotion with streaming video of CBS’s Monday night line-up online.

This marks the eighth time CBS has used Valpak for a direct marketing campaign, but a first by the network to weave moving images and audio online.
