Bahamas Taps Miami Heat to Drive Tourism

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

When the Miami Heat hits their home court next week in the official season opener against the Chicago Bulls, the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism will be there.

In a new, three-year deal, the Miami Heat will host a number of Bahamas-themed nights at its home court, the American Airlines Arena. On-court promotions include Bahamas-style events taking center stage to sold-out crowds, with trip giveaways to the islands, T-shirt giveaways, Heat dancers dressed in Bahamian colors and occasional performances by the Bahamian Junkanoo band.

The agreement also calls for Bahamas style messaging and images at Miami Heat charitable events, basketball clinics, educational programs and on the team’s official Web site, Heat.com. Some of the Heat’s top partners will also be brought to the Bahamas each year.

“The objective of our partnership is to present the islands of the Bahamas as a tropical vacation paradise to all South Florida Miami Heat fans,” said Anita Johnson-Patty, a spokesperson for the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism.

The partnership is being supported with full-page advertisements in Gameday magazine, spots on 610 AM, WIOD, English radio and on 1140 AM, Spanish radio and banner ads on the Heat Web site.
