Toshiba Introduces HD DVD to U.S. with Tour

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Toshiba America Consumer Products LLC kicked off a tour last week to launch its first U.S.-marketed high-definition DVD players.

The tour, called A Defining Moment in Home Entertainment, has Toshiba reps conducting consumer and media demonstrations, as well as sales and product training at electronic retailers in 40 cities. The tour runs through April.

“One challenge when launching a new product or technology is how to reach the masses of people who have expressed interest in the product or technology, with the information,” said Tina Tuccillo, VP- marketing at Toshiba. “We feel this tour is one way to do this.”

Wayne, NJ-based Toshiba launched a teaser Web site in November to provide information about the HD DVD format. A micro-site HDDVD.toshiba.com helps promote the tour with information on upcoming product demonstrations.

“The introduction of HD DVD is an exciting milestone in the evolution of Home Theater,” Tuccillo said. “Partnering with key retailers in major markets across America, this tour will help Toshiba deliver the product information our customers want in a face-to-face environment that allows them to interact with Toshiba on a more personal level.”

Print ads, online materials and TV spots support. Boston-based Brodeur North America handles.
