Post Office Requires More Frequent List Updates

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

New postal regulations require mailers to update lists more frequently for mailing flyers, catalogs, advertising and packages sent out as standard mail, effective Nov. 23.

The change is intended to reduce undeliverable mail and mail forwarding.

Under the new regulations lists must be updated 95 days prior to the date of a mailing. The previous requirement was 185 days.

Authorized updating methods include matching list data with the National Change of Address file.
