Moe’s Goes Mobile with New Burrito Launch

Tex-Mex restaurant chain Moe’s Southwest Grill is introducing a new limited-time menu item, the Phil E. Burrito, by deploying its first nationwide mobile campaign.

Guests can text the word “MOES” to short code 46786 to get $2 off the price of their next Phil E. burrito or quesadilla. Moe’s, an Atlanta-based chain with more than 400 restaurants in 34 states, worked with SMS platform Opt It on the mobile campaign.

“We want the portion of our customer base that does not typically clip coupons out of the Sunday paper to have easy access to the great deals Moe’s offers,” marketing director Sara Riggsby said in a statement. “The large number of people who opted in on our Web site to receive mobile offers even before the promotion began is exciting for us.”

The company has also been working since January with restaurant marketing solutions company to build its VIP mobile database and says it has added almost 5,000 names in the last two months.

Moe’s Phil E. burrito and quesadilla combine grilled sirloin steak, peppers, onions, mushrooms, shredded cheese and Moe’s signature queso inside a warm tortilla wrapper. The menu items will be available at participating Moe’s restaurants until May 31.

The Moe’s Southwest Grill concept is owned by Focus brands, which also owns the Carvel, Cinnabon and Schlotzky’s franchises.
