Fuel Partnership Pumps Up Premiums

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

With the price of gasoline skyrocketing higher each week, premiums that lower the cost of filling the tank are sure to get attention.

A program presented last week by CCISTech lets retailers without fuel outlets cross-market their grocery products with gasoline sold at nearby service stations.

Using Windows-based software, the Reward Gateway program is installed at gas pumps sited at traditional gas stations or convenience stores offering gas. Customers can redeem fuel discounts they have earned after buying select food and general merchandise products at grocery or general merchandise retailers that are part of the CCIS loyalty network. They scan their store loyalty card or paper receipts at the pump. The discount is applied by either rolling down the price per gallon or by discounting the total transaction amount by the amount of reward accumulated by the customer.

“The Reward Gateway [can] link to multiple credit/debit authorization hosts from a single system,” said Scott Wetzel, VP-marketing and channel development for Irving, TX-based CCISTech, during a recent presentation.
