CNN Mounts Fit Nation Tour to Fight Obesity

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

CNN has launched its latest Fit Nation Tour with a routine of cutting-edge fitness games and a climbing wall as part of its ongoing initiative to combat obesity in the U.S.

Visitors to the tour are encouraged to participate in an eight-player XerDance game and Sportwall Group Training Stations that are featured at some stops. The event hits Minneapolis, MN, this week, and moves on to Ohio, Delaware and New York. It recently stopped in Seattle, Dallas and New Orleans, LA.

Participating organizations include the American Diabetes Association, the Mayo Clinic and Weight Watchers. XerGames Technology is providing exergaming equipment.

“Exergames are fun, and everyone—kids especially—love to play exergames,” Jim Teatum of XerGames, said in a statement. “That makes a huge difference, in terms of the level of involvement and exercise adherence, which is a key focus of the CNN Fitness Nation Tour.”

The tour schedule and other information are available at www.cnn.com/SPECIALS/2008/fit.nation.

The CNN Fit Nation campaign kicked off in 2006 as a continuing effort against obesity, seeking to encourage healthier lifestyles.
