YP Had More Than $350 Million in Mobile Ad Revenue in 2012

YP logoYP (aka the new version of the Yellow Pages, as of May 2012) has announced that it raked in more than $350 million in advertising revenue attributable to mobile. Using numbers from IDC (International Data Corporation), YP says this makes it the No. 2 company in the U.S. mobile advertising industry.

According to the company’s announcement, mobile searches across YPmobile apps and YP.com accounted for more than 4 in 10 of all searches across YP properties last year.

YP’s mobile advertising segment grew by more than 70 percent in 2012, according to Karsten Weide, program vice president, digital media and entertainment at IDC. The organization expects this figure to grow by another 60 percent in 2013. “And also, with consumers checking for nearby information on the road, and with YP providing this data, they will see their business grow rapidly, too,” Weide says.

Local businesses got nearly 100 million calls in 2012 from consumers who found them via YP’s local search app, which is equivalent to an average of three phone calls per second.
