The Pros and Cons of Facebook and LinkedIn for B2B Marketing

Facebook-LinkedIn B2B marketingWhen marketers think of social media for B2B marketing, LinkedIn is probably the first platform to come to mind. But some studies show that Facebook, more known for its B2C virtues, may also be a good social media site for B2B marketing. James Trumbly, co-founder and director of business development for HMG Creative, shares the pros and cons of each platform for B2B marketing:

  • Facebook:
    • Pros: huge user base, direct marketing via Facebook ads
    • Cons: limited reach for posts, competition with non-professional posts
  • LinkedIn:
    • Pros: it’s a go-to spot for professionals, easy networking
    • Cons: smaller user base and less engagement, not usually thought of as a marketing platform

On Thursday, HP announced that it became the first company to have 1 million followers on LinkedIn. In its announcement, the company shared some insights into the value of its LinkedIn following.
