Superpages Goes to the Video

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Internet Yellow Pages Superpages.com is beta testing video ads for small to mid-sized local businesses that advertiser in its online directories.

The ads are currently being tested in the company’s Seattle, Los Angeles and San Francisco markets and consist of video clips running either 30 seconds or a minute. The videos are produced by professional film crews on the local merchants’ premises. Superpages.com has reportedly not settled on a price point for video production once the platform comes out of trial, and marketers will also have to pay for placement of the ads.

“There is a clear trend in advertising as more consumers are willing to engage with videos online, said Eric chandler, president of Internet for Idearc Media, parent to Superpages.com. “Superpages’ video advertising allows small to medium-sized local businesses the opportunity to tell their unique story in a new medium. These ‘documercials’ also let consumers take an up-close and personal look at a business before making a buying decision.”

The company has no projected date for a national rollout of the video ad product.
