Social Networking Web Site Inserts Ads in E-mail Correspondence

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

The social networking Web site Tagged.com plans to begin inserting behaviorally targeted text ads or taglines into the footer of users’ e-mail correspondence.

Ads will target 30 million users of Tagged.com based on more than 200 million behavioral data points. Ads will be inserted in user-to-user e-mail communications, system notifications, newsletters and weather alerts.

Self-reported user account information will be used for targeting, in addition to online search data. Advertising can be targeted based on account user information, search engine results listings, Web pages and via solo direct e-mail.
