Loyal customers who sign up for NetBank, the online banking service, can now earn up to 7,000 additional loyalty points to use on hotel stays, resort vacations, sporting goods, gift certificates or other favorites.

Under the NetBank partnership, TripRewards members can earn 2,500 points for opening and funding a NetValue or SuperValue checking account; 2,500 loyalty points for opening and adding funds to a money market account; 1,500 for signing up for direct deposit and 500 points for enrolling in and using NetBank’s online bill payment service.

Members who sign up for all four online banking services will receive a total of 7,000 points good for a $25 gift certificate at participating restaurants and retails shops, a free night’s lodging in the U.S. or Canada, or a one-day Avis car rental.

NetBank is the first bank to become a partner with the TripRewards program. The bank offers its services online at Netbank.com. Signage in hotels and Internet materials support.

“Banking is an everyday behavior,” said Wendi Mazzucco, senior director of loyalty and direct marketing for Cendant’s Hotel Group. “We want to reward people for doing everyday things.”

The new service strengthens the group’s TripRewards program, which kicked off in 2003, Mazzucco said. Unlike other reward programs, the TripRewards program is an “open earn” structure, which gives members quicker access to point earning possibilities by staying in Cendant-franchised hotels, renting Avis and Budget rental cars and buying products and services from earning partners.

TripRewards members can redeem points to use at more than 6,000 hotels and 46 retailers and restaurants. Enrollment is free. The Parsippany, NJ-based Cendant’s Hotel Group operates Super 8, Days Inn, Ramada, Travelodge, Howard Johnson, Knights Inn, Wingate Inn and AmeriHost brands.
