Harry & David: A Great Fit for 1-800-Flowers?

I am not a mergers and acquisitions guy, nor do I play one on TV. But I have a feeling troubled food gifts seller Harry & David Holdings could be a great fit for 1-800-Flowers and its branding strategy.

Harry & David is still a very viable brand, and I’ve been surprised over the past week to hear people were thrilled to receive the gift of English muffins (Wolferman’s). (Oranges, on the other hand (Cushman’s) seem to be something you can get in any gift basket.)

It took 1-800-Flowers about 2 years to sell off its home and children
