Samsung Joins MovieFone

For the second time, Samsung Electronics America will team with MovieFone for a sweepstakes that offers Samsung’s electronic gear as prizes.

Callers to MovieFone, the nation’s largest movie guide and ticketing service, will be entered in the sweeps to win prizes such as projection TVs, DVD players, or VCRs. “We are actively pursuing the high-end home theater customer,” says Matt Mustachio, Samsung’s director of marketing. “These are the same consumers who use MovieFone and Movielink.com to get information on the hottest movies. We can also target some of our company’s key regional markets with radio and TV ads.”

The promotion begins this month and every call to the movie hot line includes an uninterrupted 20-second spot on Samsung products. Callers will also be allowed to enter the sweepstakes by listening to an additional 45-second commercial. The electronics manufacturer will also have ads on the Movielink.com Web site and links to its own Web page.

Samsung will promo the partnership with popcorn bag ads, pre-show slides, and in-theater promos in major cities.

Two years ago, Samsung teamed with MovieFone for one of the service’s first deals. “We have been growing by leaps and bounds in the past two years, adding new markets and expanding Movielink.com. Samsung will benefit from our extended reach.” says vp sales Morten Gottereup. This year the company has already received more than 300 million calls covering more than 14,500 movie screens in 33 cities.
