Toys R Us Kiosks Allows Kids to Create “Wish Lists”

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Toys R Us is installing kiosks is every store across the country for kids to input “Wish Lists” of everything they are dreaming of finding under the tree Christmas morning.

The idea is to have kids and their parents create the list together. To entice participation, a sweepstakes begins Oct. 18 and runs through Oct. 31. Once the list is created, people go to www.Hubworld.com/wishlist to enter. The sweeps is in partnership with The Hub from Hasbro. One shopper will win all of the items on their Wish List while 200 second-prize winners will receive a $100 Toys R Us gift card.

The lists can be created in store or online then printed out to share with friends and family.

While the kiosks—four-feet high so kids can easily reach the 17-inch screen— are being strategically installed in time for Christmas, Wish List will be available year round for birthdays, other holidays and special occasions. The marketing program for Wish List includes in-store signage, print and online promotions and on the Toys R Us Facebook page.

The kiosks will all be installed by the end of November.

In a related development, Toys R Us has donated another $50,000 in store gift cards to the Make-A-Wish Foundation to fund shopping spree wishes in its stores. In addition, the company’s Children’s Fund, has provided the Make-A-Wish Foundation with an additional $200,000 grant. To make customers aware of the cause campaign, the charity’s logo will appear on the kiosks.
