Wisconsin DM, TV Guide Printer Closes: Reports

Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

Sunny Industries, a printing company based in Mazomanie, WI that published direct mail pieces, as well TV Guide, closed on Dec. 22, throwing 380 people out of work, according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The closure had been announced several weeks ago, according to the Star Tribune.

Sunny Industries lost a contract to print TV Guide, and earlier had lost a Time magazine contract to Quad Graphics, according to The Capital Times of Madison, WI.

Wisconsin had given the company $1.27 million to open the Mazomanie plant in 1995, and the city had given Sunny $750,000 in tax financing to relocate the plant from Wheeling, IL, the Star Tribune reported.

Sunny Industries had filed for bankruptcy earlier this year, according to the Star Tribune. Two companies, CIT Group/Equipment Financing of Tempe, AZ, and General Electric Capital Corp. of Stamford, CT, had filed claims against the firm. According to the Star Tribune, the two firms claimed they were owed more than $7 million in printing equipment and related costs.
