Google is Top Parent Company, Web Brand

Google was both the top parent company and the top Web brand in June, according to Nielsen Online.

The search giant attracted 155.6 million unique visitors to its domains in June, up 12.82 percent from the previous month’s audience of 137.9 million. Each visitor spent an average of 2:31:08 on Google’s pages during the month.

Microsoft was the second parent company with 139.1 million unique visitors, up 9.66 percent from its audience of 126.9 million in May. Each of its visitors spent an average of 2:12:20 on its domains.

Yahoo! was third with 134.3 million unique visitors in June, up 11.51 percent from its audience of 120.4 million in May. Each of its visitors spent 3:15:55 on its pages during the month.

AOL LLC was fourth with 92.7 million unique visitors, up 8.88 percent from its audience of 85.1 million May. Its visitors spent an average of 2:43:10 on its pages during June.

News Corp. Online was fifth on the list with 90.3 million unique visitors in June, up 13.37 percent from its audience of 79.7 million in May. Its visitors spent an average of 1:54:59 on its pages in June.

Facebook was sixth with 87.3 million unique visitors in June, up 15.65 percent compared to its audience of 75.4 million in May. Its users spent an average of 4:39:33 on its pages in June.

InterActiveCorp (67.3 million visitors, up 2.76 percent), eBay (67.2 million visitors, up 4.67 percent), Apple Computer (59.7 million visitors, up 7.08 percent) and Amazon (59.6 million visitors, up 1.44 percent) rounded out the list of the top 10 parent companies in June, according to Nielsen Online.

Google was the top Web brand in June, followed by Yahoo!, MSN/Windows Live/Bing and Microsoft.

AOL Media Network, YouTube, Facebook, Fox Interactive Media, Apple and Wikipedia rounded out the list of the top Web brands in June, according to Nielsen Online.
