Walmart Death Sparks Proposed Legislation

Someone always has to die before any real action is taken.

It was only a matter of time before a store employee got killed on Black Friday. History has shown us that violence and general chaos are a hallmark of this super-shopping day and other wild promotions. And the bigger the bargain or prize the more likely that someone gets hurt.

Think back to the hysteria around the 2006 launch of the PS3 at Walmart, Circuit City and Best Buy, among other stores.

Shoppers were trampled. Cops used nightsticks and pepper spray to keep stampeding crowds at bay. People required hospital stays after suffering serious injuries, like the man who was shoved head first into a flagpole at a Walmart. Consumers were shot and knifed. People were robbed.
