5 Ways to Market on Facebook

Posted on

If you’re not promoting your offers on Facebook – or your brand in a general sense – you’re really missing out. Facebook continues to have the world’s largest user database, and with Facebook apps as a must-have on just about every smart phone model, you could be accessing new customers constantly.

Many affiliates find themselves promoting brands the same way 24/7, when some of Facebook’s functionality could make the difference between more direct, conversion-oriented marketing and simple brand building. If you can actually convert offers while beefing up your brand on Facebook, why would you pass up that opportunity?

Below are five amazing ways to market your offers or brand on Facebook that you still might not be using. If you’re not taking advantage of these offers, a new year might be a good time to try out some new tactics.

#1: Facebook Ads and Social Connections

Plenty of people are currently running Facebook ads – but are you actually using all the above metrics to your advantage? Facebook offers metrics such as Social Reach (how many friends saw your ad because a friend’s name appeared alongside an ad or sponsored story), but not many folks pay attention to these numbers. Facebook Insights will also tell you when a person likes your page because a friend has.

This is valuable info to know – and could also save you some money. The truth is, you may not have to run Facebook ads continuously. Try running your ads for a few days, and then shut them off for a weekend or a weekday to check out how many friends of new connections will like your page.

There seems to be more “juice” in terms of this happening right after an ad run, so experiment with how many “likes” trickle in after you turn your ads off for a few days. You might be able to get extra steam from friends of new fans liking you that won’t require as much in ad spend.

#2: Using Facebook as a Page

See that little drop down arrow next to the “Home” link on the top of your screen? If you click on that arrow, a menu will drop down that will allow you to use Facebook as a page name.

This is a very valuable way to go out and speak AS YOUR BUSINESS that many folks just aren’t using. You can operate as your page name on friends’ profiles, on other business pages, or “Like” other businesses or topics as your business name. This can be very valuable in terms of networking and building new relationships.

#3: Facebook Events

You don’t actually need to have a LIVE event to use the Facebook Events function. Start an event and invite folks in your circle for a new deal, promotion, or the revamp of your website. A digital launch party is something you can create an event for and do completely online. It’s a good resource to use without having to spend the money on a venue.

#4: Facebook Contests

As many of you know, Facebook is famous for changing their TOS and not really letting people know. Last year, they changed their TOS so that you can’t use Facebook’s functionality – the Like button, etc. – to entice the user to enter a contest.

What you can do to skirt the rules a bit is to create a “Welcome” graphic on your Facebook page that directs a user offsite to enter a contest. You can grab a user’s email that way – and you’re doing it completely on your own website. This will help you get around the TOS.

#5: Groups

Starting and inviting members to an exclusive group will help you share hot deals, coupons, and info about your brand or promotions. If a member likes your group, he or she will invite another friend to join – and before you know it, you’ve built an inner circle entirely on Facebook to exchange valuable info about your brand. Groups can also be public if you want to extend the savings or the info to anyone.

Looking for new and exciting ways to use Facebook? Look no further than some of the current functionality that you may be glossing over. You could be missing an opportunity to truly grow your business in some ingenious ways!
