Ticket and Back-to-School-Related Sites Thrive in July

The latest set of data from comScore shows that consumers made their way to ticket and back-to-school-related websites in July. Individual winners included Ticketmaster, MovieTickets.com, Staples.com, Office Depot, OfficeMax and Zappos Sites. Google Sites remained the No. 1 overall Web property in July.

According to comScore, NFL Internet Group was the top gaining property in the U.S. in July, experiencing an 82 percent month-over-month growth in the number of unique visitors. Staples.com followed with a 30 percent jump, while Infospace Network saw its audience grow 29 percent.

Procter & Gamble (+25 percent), Toys R Us Sites (+ 23 percent), AccuWeather Sites (+23 percent), Hollywood.com Sites (+23 percent), Barnes & Noble (+21 percent), Sun Microsystems Inc. (+20 percent) and Dell (+20 percent) were also big gainers in July.

The top gaining site category in July was Retail – Tickets, as its audience experienced month-over-month growth of 23 percent. Ticketmaster was the No. 1 site in this category with 10.9 million visitors (+13 percent), followed by MovieTickets.com with 5.6 million visitors (+34 percent). Tickets.com Sites ranked No. 3 with 3.6 million visitors, while StubHub.com ranked fourth with 3.4 million visitors (+9 percent).

Community – Beauty/Fashion/Style followed with month-over-month growth of 17 percent, while Retail – Toys saw its audience of unique visitors grow 15 percent.

Retail – Consumer Goods (+13 percent) also saw big growth, led by Staples.com (+30 percent), Office Depot (+21 percent), QVC Sites (+ 5 percent) and OfficeMax (+32 percent).

Community – Personals (+12 percent), Auctions (+9 percent) and Retail – Apparel (+8 percent) also saw significant gains in their audiences in July, according to comScore.

The No. 1 Web property in the U.S. in July was Google Sites with 182.3 million unique visitors, followed by Yahoo Sites with 177.6 million visitors and Microsoft Sites with 174.3 million visitors.

Facebook.com was fourth with 162.1 million visitors, followed by AOL Inc. with 105.4 million visitors, Amazon Sites with 97.1 million visitors and Turner Digital with 91.2 million visitors.

Ask Network jumped up one spot on the list and ranked No. 8 with 84.9 million visitors in July. AT&T Interactive Network jumped seven positions to finish at No. 26, while Fox News Digital appeared on the list at No. 46.

Google Ad Network ranked atop comScore’s Ad Focus ranking with a reach of 93.3 percent. Yahoo Network Plus followed with a reach of 87.5 percent, while AOL Advertising had a reach of 87.2 percent.

ValueClick Networks (82.0 percent), 24/7 Real Media Global Web Alliance (81.1 percent), Google (80.6 percent), Tribal Fusion (77.6 percent), ShareThis (76.6 percent) and AdBrite (76.1 percent) rounded out the top 10 Ad Focus rankings in July.

The total U.S. Internet audience in July was 215.1 million unique visitors, according to comScore.
