McDonald’s Names New UK CMO

McDonald’s Restaurants Ltd. has named a former British Airways marketing executive as its new CMO for northern Europe.

Jill McDonald has been appointed to senior VP, CMO for the UK and northern Europe, a newly created position. In her role, McDonald, 42, will oversee McDonald’s UK marketing initiatives and help align the QSR’s marketing function with its new European divisional structure.

McDonald previously worked as head of global marketing for British Airlines overseeing global advertising and sponsorship, design, customer insight, employee involvement and service style development.

This month, the QSR revamped its marketing department relocating Peter Beresford, the former UK chairman and chief executive, to the U.S. to lead strategic global brand development. Xtra, May 2, 2006. McDonald’s UK president and CEO Steve Easterbrook replaced Beresford.
