Yahoo will acquire European online price comparison site Keikoo for about $575 million, according to Reuters.
Paris-based Kelkoo (www.kelkoo.com) enables users to compare prices for products ranging from airfare to digital cameras. It has 27 million monthly European users, making it the continent’s third-largest e-commerce site.
The deal, which is expected to close in the second quarter, fits with Yahoo’s focus on improving growth in its recently profitable European business.
The deal is expected to re-open the door for acquisitions of European technology companies, in particular Internet firms, analysts and bankers said. One banker said this could be Europe’s most expensive dot-com acquisition of the year.
