Tweeting About Dad For a Year of Free Pizza

Papa John’s is playing up Father’s Day with a Twitter campaign that gives one winner a year of free pizza. The promotion also has a tie in with the charity All Pro Dad.

People must sum up their dad’s character in 140 characters or less using the hashtag #AllProPapa. Papa John’s and All Pro Dad executives will determine the winner, judging submissions on creativity and love for dads. Father’s Day is June 20.

In addition to the Twitter contest, Papa John’s is supporting All Pro Dad, a national, non-profit organization dedicated to helping men become better fathers through sales of its gift cards. For every gift card purchased online during the month of June $1 will be donated to All Pro Dad, up to $30,000. This year marks the first time Papa John’s is offering digital gift cards, making it easier to gift the cards. The charity is run by Super Bowl XLI winning head coach Tony Dungy.

For Papa John’s, Father’s Day is the second-highest day for gift card sales behind Christmas.

Social media is the main driver for getting the word out about the campaign, including Papa John’s 1.2 million Facebook fans and its 12,000 Twitter followers. In addition, Dungy will do some radio spots this week to talk up the gift card charity promotion.
