Sharper Image Reports Income Gains

Sharper Image Corp. reported net income of $16.8 million, for its fourth quarter, up 46% from $11.6 million last year. Revenue for the quarter ended Jan. 31 was $220.7 million, up 32% from $166.6 million.

Catalog sales were $50.3 million, up 30% from $38.6 million last year. Internet sales were $33.1 million, up 61% from $20.5 million last year. Total store sales were $130.5 million, up 28% from $102 million last year.

For the year ended Jan. 31, the San Francisco company’s net income was $15.4 million, up substantially from $1.3 million last year.

Total revenue of $522 million increased 32% from $396.2 million last year.

Catalog sales were $141.4 million, up 40% from $101.3 million last year. Internet sales were $69.5 million, up 40% from $49.8 million last year. Total store sales were $296.1 million, up 28% from $232.1 million last year.

“These results were achieved, in part, by continued aggressive advertising initiatives to drive sales, build the brand and expand our customer base,” said CEO Richard Thalheimer, in a statement.
