Revlon, Inc. last week said that its third quarter loss widened on refinancing costs and declining U.S. sales.
The company, whose brands include Revlon and Almay, reported a net loss of $91.6 million, compared to $54.7 million one year ago. The quarter ended Sept. 30.
Sales fell 7% to $294 million from $317 million as sales of color cosmetics including lipsticks and blush fell in the U.S. Revlon and Almay brands market share fell to 21.3 of the U.S. cosmetics market in the quarter from 22.3 percent one year earlier.
North American sales declined about 10% to $192 million. International sales declined about 2% to $102 million.
Sales for the nine months were $919 million, down 1% from $931 million.
