Patterson Dental Co. will acquire Medco Supply Company Inc., a distributor of sports medicine with annual sales of roughly $40 million, in an all-cash transaction. The deal is expected to close early next month.
Medco, based in Buffalo, NY sells roughly 10,000 products through catalogs and its sales force.
While not revealing the purchase price, Patterson said the deal is consistent with its previous criteria for acquisitions.
St. Paul, MN-based Patterson entered the rehabilitation market last year by acquiring AbilityOne. CEO Peter L. Frechette said in a statement that the Medco buy will “strengthen AbilityOne’s position in the growing sports medicine market while enable us to further penetrate the podiatry market.”
