Posted on by Chief Marketer Staff

President Obama’s name graced more spam subject lines than any other celebrity in 2009, according to a recently released report from Internet security vendor McAfee.

Also, Obama was the only male to beat Angelina Jolie in terms of spam-subject-line popularity, according to McAfee.

Many spammers use celebrities in their subject lines in order to dupe recipients into opening their massages.

Besides Jolie, the top 10 women in spam subjects lines, according to McAfee, in descending order were Oprah Winfrey, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Avril Lavigne, Madonna, Scarlett Johansson and Jessica Simpson.

After Obama, the other top 10 men in spam subject lines in descending order were Michael Jackson, George Bush, Brad Pitt, Eminem, Warren Buffet, Chuck Norris, Don Juan, Elton John and sacha Baron Cohen.
