Department store chain Mervyn’s has hired Rick Leto as president-chief merchandising officer, effective Jan. 5, 2005.
Leto will oversee marketing, merchandising, product development, strategic planning and allocation for the 257-store chain.
Leto had been president-chief merchandising officer for Galyan’s Trading Co., Plainfield, IN, and before that was executive VP-merchandising for Kohl’s Department Stores, Menomonee Falls, WI.
Target Corp. sold Hayward, CA-based Mervyn’s in September to an investment consortium including Sun Capital Partners, Cerberus Capital Management, Lubert-Adler and Klaff Partners. Mervyn’s 2003 sales were $3.6 billion.
