Kraft Foods and Starbucks Corp. extend their distribution agreement to add Tazo teas, expanding distribution of the tea brand to thousands of supermarkets via Kraft.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The deal accelerates the mainstream rollout already begun by Tazo Tea Co., a division of Seattle-based Starbucks. Tazo has a strong foothold in natural food stores and foodservice. Kraft lends its supermarket expertise, and Tazo “will provide Kraft with an all-natural, super-premium tea brand,” said Liz Smith, Kraft group VP-president of U.S. Beverages and Grocery Sectors, in a statement.
Northfield, IL-based Kraft has handled supermarket distribution and marketing of Starbucks coffee beans since 1998.
