Getty Images to Target Consumers on Amazon

(Catalog Age) Seattle-based stock photography provider Getty Images plans to sell its photos on Amazon.com.

Getty, which got out of the direct response catalog business last year in favor of the Web, plans to offer printed photos of Marilyn Monroe, nature scenes, architecture, and other images for $15-$60 per print, depending their size.

For Getty, which sells to businesses, the Amazon presence is a first step toward targeting consumers. “We have long felt that our imagery has an appropriate use in the consumer world,” Getty’s vice president of business development, Jim Gurke, said in a statement. Until now, he noted, Getty has avoided selling direct to consumers out of piracy concerns.
