Americorp Marketing Inc., (AMI) White Plains, NY, today announced the lead buyer for (http://www.americorp.net), the country’s first Internet franchise. The franchise was purchased by Bill Jaeger of New York City, with exclusive rights to the territory covering lower Westchester County, NY.
Jaeger signed on to become the first Americorp franchisee within a month of the company’s launch in December 1998. He leaves a profitable project management business, Workspace Solutions, in New York, to build a thriving marketing enterprise on the Internet.
“Americorp is going to ride the Internet wave into the future–my future,” says Jaeger. “Real estate is already big business. But the Internet is really just starting to take off, and I wanted to get in at the beginning of the curve.”
The Americorp franchise is a home-based Internet business combining local, on-line real estate listings with local advertising from related service providers such as contractors, lenders, attorneys, designers and others. Unlike other franchise companies that maintain Web sites to promote their businesses, the Americorp Web site is itself a franchise vehicle. The site will eventually contain nearly 500 exclusive, on-line franchise territories, according to a statement.
