Direct Sales Show Biggest Gains for Urban Outfitters

Third quarter net sales for Urban Outfitters rose from $142.3 million a year ago to $216.3 million. While not the largest segment, direct-to-consumer sales recorded the largest percentage increase: 85%, jumping from $12.7 million to $23.5 million. The quarter ended Oct. 31.

The Philadelphia-based apparel firm’s other operations, including Free People, Anthropologie and its flagship Urban Outfitters stores, generated an 18% increase in same-store sales, and a 52% increase in total store sales. Urban Outfitters increased the number of locations it operates by 37% during the year.
