Internet marketing expenditures in the U.K. accounted for 3% of advertising revenues last year, surpassing the industry’s own target of 2% by this fall, according to wire service reports.
According to NTC Research’s second-quarter Bellwether Report, for the ninth quarter in a row the growth rate of Internet-related marketing spending in the second quarter was above that of other marketing activities, with a quarter of companies reporting an increase in online budget.
Budgets for advertising, at 35% of the total marketing outlay, showed the largest growth since the first quarter of 2000, as companies perceive a brightened economic outlook.
*Scholastic Names Keene Executive VP Scholastic has named Linda B. Keene, executive vice president of marketing. She succeeds Dick Spaulding, who has been with the company for 44 years.
She will head up the New York company’s strategic marketing division.
Recently she has been an independent consultant on marketing and organizational issues. From 1994 to 2001, she was vice president of market development for American Express Financial Advisors. From 1987 to 1994, she was with The Pillsbury Co. serving as vice president of marketing services from 1992 to 1994.
